Mt. Baruntse Expedition with Mera Peak Climbing

Trip Introduction

Mt. Baruntse Expedition with Mera Peak Climbing incorporates climbing Mera Peak at the height of 6467m as well as Mt. Baruntse at the height of 7129m. However, our main destination is still Mount Baruntse while Mera Peak climbing is a compliment to this Expedition journey that provides you additional views of the Everest region from unique Angles.
Another purpose of constituting Mera Peak climbing in the route is so that you will be properly acclimatized and have some extra experience of Peak climbing.
Mount Baruntse is targeted by many adventures due to the fact that the success rate of reaching its zenith and returning back safely is more compared to other peaks of similar heights.  This climbing journey has the best possible views of the mountains like Mount Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Makalu (8481m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m), and several other popular peaks.
Mera Peak climbing is comparatively easier than Baruntse climbing and helps people overcome the fear of climbing a peak with a height of more than 7000 meters.
Baruntse expedition provides perfect training experience for those aiming to climb a mountain with height in the range of 8000 meters. Located between much taller peaks i.e. Lhotse and Makalu, Baruntse climbing might not require technical climbing skill but it reaches the apogee if this mountain can get much demanding and taxing.
You need not worry though; you will have seasoned Sherpas and guides to help you out throughout this journey. On top of that, the splendor of the Everest region, speechless views of mountains, lush rhododendron, oaks, pines, magnolia forests, variety of wildlife like snow leopard, Red Panda, Yaks, etc. makes your challenging journey completely worth it.

Our Sherpa climbing crew will perform all the hard works of carrying and setting up additional camps above the base camp, serving hygienic meals, and finding appropriate routes for the climb, serving the hygienic meals, and finding appropriate routes for the climb. Fully equipped with all the climbing equipment and we will follow the guidance of experienced climbing experts and climb closer to the summit. Weather conditions can change in seconds, so taking weather conditions into consideration we will overcome several technical climbing sections and climb to the summit of Mt. Baruntse. Our much waited and tiring climb to the summit is rewarded with a magnificent view of Everest, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Makalu, Kanchenjunga, Nuptse, Chamlang, Mera Peak, and other surrounding high peaks in the region. We will spend some quality time at the summit and start our descend journey following the same route back to base camp. The climbing period has no fixed day to day itinerary as it will be decided by the expedition leader and the guide. They will decide the day to day routine including the time to be spent on the advanced base camp and the higher camps, based on the physical fitness, health, and the condition of the climbers. So before we attempt to summit Mt. Baruntse we acclimatize setting up two camps excluding the advanced base camp. There will be a total of two Camps set up on the ascent to the summit as follows:
Camp I (6135m)
This camp is located on a glacial plateau. We get here by climbing the south –East Ridge leading to the West Col. It is pretty much a gradual climb to the West Col, however a fixed rope is used to overcome an ice cliff at an angle of 50 degrees. After crossing the cliff we reach the spot of our Camp I. like before, we go down to the advance base camp and climb up again to Camp I, stocking up the camp with food. This also helps in acclimatizing. Once the timing to climb up to Camp I is constant, we advance further to Camp II.
Camp II (6400m)
A fixed rope is needed to get to Camp II, which the Sherpa guides will do beforehand. On the way, we come across a long glacier. Using a fixed rope, we overcome the glacier and as we near a small col on the South East Ridge, the slope steepens. After climbing the slope we reach the location of our Camp II. We push for the summit from Camp II.
Summit Day
We start our expedition early at around 1-2 am. After an early breakfast, we head out climbing up a steep ice wall angled at 45 degrees leading us to a small col at 6500m. Along the way, we also ascend through a short rocky section but the main challenge is overcoming the sharp ice shoulder at 7000m. Conquering this will lead us to the summit ridge. We climb up the ridge which eventually narrows to the Baruntse summit at 7129m. Enjoy the panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga among others.
The descent starts as we retrace back to the Base Camp. The climbers must exercise extreme caution as their bodies will be in extreme fatigue. We then head towards Camp I and spend a night there. The next day we head down to the base camp.
