Trip Introduction


Mt. Annapurna is the 10th highest peak in the world with its height of 8091m located in the western zone of Nepal. Annapurna region is protected regions and it is the largest conservation area of Nepal. This area spans of 7639sq km. Within its vicinity, lies one of the most popular trekking destinations of the world; The Annapurna Base Camp, popularly known as ABC Trek.
 The breathtaking route is ideal for those with a limited amount of time to dedicate to trekking while in Nepal. Trekking in the region of the Annapurna is the perfect way to get up close and personal with one of nature’s most majestic wonders. ABC was first discovered by Col. James Roberts from Britain in 1956. He was so mesmerized by its beauty hence called it the “Sanctuary of the Gods”. This magnificent amphitheater is called a “sanctuary” because of its natural serenity, beauty, and the divine presence of the Hindu goddesses Annapurna and Gangapurna.
Annapurna region is covered by Gurung, Magar, and Thakali culture and traditions. For the lifetime experiment, it is a most do trekking route

Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu (1330m)
Upon your arrival a representative from Swagat Holiday Treks & Expedition Pvt. Ltd. will be waiting outside the international Airport (Tribhuwan International Airport) gates to take you to the hotel. Depending on the time of arrival, plans will be made for a briefing meeting once you have settled in. Please let us know if there is anything special you would like to do while in Kathmandu. We can help you arrange that. Stay Overnight in Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu valley (1330m)
You will have breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast, we will drive to various UNESCO listed world heritage sites of Nepal which are situated inside the Kathmandu valley. Swayembhu is the initial heritage site that we will be visiting; a famous and important stupa for Buddhists which is situated at the top of a hill in Kathmandu valley. The temple is also known as Monkey Temple due to more than hundreds of Monkeys living around the temple area. We then head to the ancient palace of Kathmandu, Kathmandu Durbar Square which consists of many historical temples such as the temple of the living Goddess (Kumari), the Jagannath Temple, and the Kasthamandap (a famous three-story building which was built from the wood of a single tree). Then we will visit the most sacred Hindu shrine of the world Pashupatinath temple. And visit Bouddha Stupa; one of the oldest and biggest stupas in Nepal. Stay Overnight in Hotel.

Day 03: Drive/Fly to Pokhara (Drive5-6 Hrs/ Fly 30 Minutes), Duration:6/7 Hrs
Early in the morning we drive/fly to Pokhara. Pokhara is known as the Lake City of Nepal as well. By the Tourist bus, the road follows a winding road over the valley rim and descends onto the Trisuli River. The Journey is slow and steady as the road winds through villages and passing terrace fields before reaching our destination. And by air, we will fly from Kathmandu Domestic airport to Pokhara by plane. After rest and refreshing snacks, you can walk around the lakeside of this beautiful city of lakes to explore the many attractions surrounding areas. Your first overnight in the city of lakes- Pokhara.

Day 04: Pokhara to Tikhe Dhunga (1495m/4905ft) Distance: 9 km, Walking Duration: 4 Hrs
“Tikhe Dhunga” in Nepali which means a (sharp stone or rock) is the place you are going to stay overnight on this day. The first activity we will do is drive to Nayapul through the village Lumle from where the actual Trek adventure starts. Then, arrives at the gorgeous village; Birethanti has small shops and tea houses followed by the place called Ramghai where we will have Lunch and continue marching upwards until we reach Tikhe Dhunga. Throughout the way from Nayapul to Tikhe Dhunga, you will be able to take pleasure from the hilly views. And the small sparkling river due to the sunrays of the chirping sounds of the birds as evening approaches you and many more.

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2850m/9348ft) Distance: 13km, Walking Duration: 7 Hrs
After the breakfast in Tikhe Dhunga, we will cross a stream on a suspension bridge near the campsite and follow the trail that mounts a vertical stone staircase (which has about3300 strides) to the large Magar village of Ulleri at 2080m. From the Magar village, the trail slowly directs you uphill through farming lands and small houses and will take you to a campsite where you can rest for a while. The trail encloses two dazzling watercourses before we climb to Nangethanti which will be our lunch spot for the day. Thanti is a Nepali word which stands for “rest house”. From Nangethanti we will scale up to Ghorepani at 2850m, from where we can observe the startling panoramic view of Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Tukuche Nilgiri (6940m), Annapurna I (8091m) Hiunchuli (6441m) and more.

Day 06: Hike to Poonhill then Trek to Tadapani (2500m/8200ft) Distance: 9km, Walking Duration: 6-7 Hrs
To view the sunrise, we will get up early in the morning, then hike to Poon Hill (3180m/1043ft) to reach there before the yellow luminous views of Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri Ranges gets missed out. The panoramic view of the snow-capped mountain peaks like Mt. Dhaulagiri (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m) Annapurna III (7855m), Machhapuchhare (6993m), Annapurna IV (7525m) Annapurna II (7937m) and Lamjung Himal (6931m) will energize you to scale up even more. After enjoying and taking some pictures with stunning backgrounds we will again come back to Ghorepani to treat our belly with hot breakfast. Embracing all the beauties you will see around, we will continue to walk uphill and finally conclude our day in Tadapani.

Day 07: Tadapani to Chomrong village (2020m/6625ft) Distance: 5.5 km, Walking Duration: 5 Hrs
On the seventh day of the trip; you will stay overnight at Chomrong village. This village is mostly inhabited by Gurung ethnicity and is also the entrance to the Annapurna Sanctuary known as the home to diverse types of exotic flora and fauna. Various Species of birds will entertain you with their tweeting music throughout the way. The generous welcome performed by the Gurung people there will elevate your heart with bliss. Moreover, the blossoming Rhododendron and dense oak forests, riotous woodland will accompany you on your journey.

Day 08: Chomrong to Dovan (2600m/8528ft), Distance: 9km, Walking Duration: 5Hrs
As we farewell Chomrong village, we will now march in the trail downhill and step about 2500 stones steps and cross the suspension bridge that swings over the Chomrong River. We will then have to climb up on a rocky path where we will pass through beautiful Sinuwa village at 2350m, from where we can notice the Annapurna Himalayas joyfully gleaming at us. Then we pass through a beautiful forest to Kuldahar at2380m, which will take us to The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Check-Post. Afterward, the trail is a constant easy slide down to Dovan from there where we will have a sound sleep after dinner.

Day 09: Dovan to Deurali (3200m/10500ft), Distance: 7.8km, Walking Duration: 4 Hrs
Through thickets of bamboo at Dovan, we will board on a damp trail closest to the emerald forest, the zenith of blooming Rhodendrons hail our journey to Deurali. We will pass the Himalayan Hotel and trek to Hinko (3020m), a trail lined with petrified trees and burnt sienna floras. Deurali lies above the ridges of Hinko and once we reach Deurali, we will sneak into our guesthouse and take a good rest and spend out night over there.

Day 10: Deurali to Machhapuchhare Base Camp-MBC (3700m/12135ft), Distance: 5km, Walking Duration: 3Hrs
The trek initiates with a moderate mount through a river body. The trail then ascends steeply over to the mountainside. After a steady hike, we will reach the Machhapuchhare Base Camp. And from the base, we will have the fortune to have the benefit of the excellent views of the royal Machhapuchhare along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharva Chuli and Gangapurna. Unlike other hiking trails, the vegetation is thin on our way to Machhapuchhare Base Camp. The monumental mountains, soaring above in astronomical proportions are a sight to behold, and the additional feeling of contentment that we have now almost reached our major goal will fill your heart with the superlative form of delight.

Day 11: MBC to Annapurna Base Camp-ABC (4230m/13840ft), Distance: 3km, Walking Duration: 2 Hrs
After a mild two hour uphill climb, we’re finally at the Annapurna Base Camp. The day we have yearned for since such a long time will finally arrive and the imperial elegance of mount Annapurna will applaud you for all the hardships you have done all this while. At 4130m you will get to savor the mesmerizing view of the mountains while standing boldly in the glorious foothills of the magnificent Mt. Annapurna. From the foothills of the 10th tallest mountains in the world, experience the spectacular view of the sun rising on the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above us.

Day 12: ABC to Bamboo (2310m/7575ft), Distance: 18km, Walking Duration: 7 Hrs
We will now hike down to Modi Khola at Bamboo at 2345m, the altitude reducing by 1700m from Annapurna Base Camp. The area is lined up by some lodges and tea-houses, scattered among the hugeness of the big open mountains, rejuvenated after each sunrise by chilly air blow. We will then reside there for the night in one of the lodges and enjoy the chilly air that puffs through our hair.

Day 13: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda Hot Spring (1780m/5840ft), Distance: 12km, Walking Duration: 6Hrs
Today after breakfast, we will follow the same trail we walked by to the Chomrong and come across an experimental sheep farm after passing Khukdighar. The trail continues through rhododendron and bamboo fields until Chomrong. The sight of flowers blooming in various colors, complementing the green leaves and bamboo forests will be a good exercise to your eye muscles.
From the village, the trail then descends very steeply to the Jhinu hot spring, where you can bathe in the natural hot spring, soothe the nerves, relax aching muscles and rejuvenate all your tired body cells. Jhinu is said to have natural strengths of healing due to the minerals in the naturally emerging water.

Day 14: Jhinu Danda to Pokhara, Walking distance to Siwai: 4.4km, Walking duration: 3Hrs, Drive duration: 2 Hrs
From Jhinu Danda, we walk at the right side of Modi Khola to Siwai then drive to Pokhara for overnight. Today is the final day of the hike.

Day 15:Drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu
Embracing all the memories you had in the trek for the last Thirteen days, we will take you back to Kathmandu by bus and you can enjoy the beautiful sight you missed to view while going to Pokhara on the third day. If you have plenty of time remaining, you can also take small breaks to smell the fresh air on the way and frame some moments in your camera.

Day 16: Farewell/Tours Ends
The final day marks the end of your journey with us. A farewell is certainly not at all a good feeling, but with a weighty heart and with the hope to see you again, one of our representatives from Swagat Holiday Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd.; Team will drop you off at the International Airport three hours prior to your departure time.

  • Basic guesthouse accommodation during the trek in mostly twin-share and occasionally dormitory-style rooms.

  • We provide an assistant guide for walking with the group to support where necessary as per group size.

  • Everest National Park permits and Khumbu permit for trekking.

Weather conditions, health conditions of a group member, unexpected natural disasters, etc. can all contribute to changes in the itinerary. The leader/guide will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if required.
